Holy Week Worship Schedule

Holy Week ScheduleIt’s almost time! Here are the ways we can worship together and celebrate the victory of God in Jesus Christ for you and me:

Friday, 12:00pm-3:00pm, Cherryville Baptist Church, Seven Last Words Service

This three-hour service takes time to reflect on the time Jesus spent on the cross on Good Friday. There are seven different reflections preached around the seven last sayings of Jesus from the gospels. If you’re curious, Pastor Ben is preaching the 6th word (“It is finished”) around 2:10PM. People are welcome to come and go during this prayerful, worshipful time.

Friday, 7:00pm-8:00pm, Fellowship Hall, Tenebrae Service

Tenebrae (Latin for “darkness”) is a reading of the Passion of Jesus Christ interspersed with hymns. Throughout the service, candles are extinguished, remembering that on that Friday the Light of the World was, for a time, extinguished.

Sunday, 7:00am-7:40am, Sunrise Service in Flemington UMC’s Memorial Garden on Maple Ave.

Christians have long welcomed the sun on the morning of Easter, remembering the journey to the tomb “while it was still dark” only to find that Jesus was not there. The tomb was empty, and nothing will ever be the same. We will sing contemporary Christian songs in the garden and greet the day that sees him rise.

Easter Morning Brunch, 8:00am

Our United Methodist Men’s Group is preparing to feed us eggs, sausage, and all the other good stuff. Everyone is welcome!

Sunday, 10:30am, Sanctuary, Easter Morning Worship

We are blessed to hear both choirs as well as other amazing music from Greg and Dr. June. Come, be fed, be blessed, and bless God.

Shrove Tuesday Pancake Dinner

Pancake DinnerA long time ago, before refrigeration, Christians preparing themselves for the Lenten season of self-denial, reflection, and fasting had a few simple problems: butter, sugar, eggs, syrup, and other decadent ingredients calling out and tempting them as they tried to grow in faith. And so Shrove Tuesday (also known as Fat Tuesday) became a feast day, and pancakes became one of the primary dishes.

Please join us for a pancake feast on February 13, 2018 at 5pm in our Fellowship Hall.

This is a chance to get together and share a meal – invite your neighbors, friends, family, anyone –and we can serve up a warm and satisfying
feast to bless everyone.

February 13, 2018 at 5pm in our Fellowship Hall.

Re-Gifting Boutique Accepting Donations

Craft Market - December 2Each year the church holds a mini rummage sale, or as we like to call it, a re-gifting boutique, during our craft marketplace. This year’s event will be held on Saturday, December 2.

The re-gifting team is currently accepting donations of items for the boutique. They will take just about anything other than clothes, books, toys, or electronics. If you have something(s) that you would like to re-gift, please email the church to schedule a drop-off time.

And please plan on coming to the craft marketplace to shop for unique gifts for your friends and family this holiday season! Continue reading “Re-Gifting Boutique Accepting Donations”
